Maintenance of diesel generators

Diesel generator sets, especially emergency backup generator sets, should be operated at least every two weeks, with an operating time of 15 to 20 minutes. It is recommended to run with load as much as possible during routine operation.

1. Diesel generator fuel system

Notice! Diesel is a combustible material. When filling diesel, repairing and cleaning the fuel system, smoking and all operations that may cause fuel combustion are strictly prohibited. Waste fuel oil and cotton cloth with fuel oil should be put in a suitable place, don't throw it away casually. Fuel is strictly forbidden to pour in the ditch.

2. Replace the fuel filter of the diesel generator

keep clean! Do not allow any dirt to enter the fuel system.

warn! In order to prevent the fuel from splashing on the hot surface and causing a fire, the fuel filter must be changed under cooling conditions.

3. Remove the filter, apply a little lubricating oil on the gasket of the new filter, screw on the filter by hand to make the gasket contact with the seat, and then tighten it half a turn, do not tighten it, and drain it out of the fuel system To remove the air, start the engine and check for leaks.

4. Diesel generator oil-water separator blowdown

Add a container under the oil-water separator and open the valve/cock at the bottom of the glass to drain water and dirt.

Notice! Drain the oil-water separator a few hours after starting the machine.

Replace the oil-water separator filter process:

a. Open the valve on the fuel tank and place a container under the oil-water separation.

b. Unscrew the screw, remove the cover, replace the filter element and reinstall it, open the fuel valve, exhaust the air in the fuel system, and send the waste filter element to a suitable disposal point.

c. Start the engine and check for leaks.

5. Diesel generator fuel system exhaust

The fuel system must be vented after the filter is replaced or the fuel is exhausted and refueled.

When the diesel engine is in working condition, open the bleed screw and pump the oil with the manual fuel pump until the outflowing fuel does not contain bubbles. Tighten the screw while the fuel continues to flow out. Continue pumping oil and check for leaks.
